Katie Petersen gives us a very nice tease from her new solo album, I Wrote You a Song.
Sherwood is an original number for that album.
With Sherwood, this very talented young singer leans heavily into the Pop area, while still retaining a strong flavor of Traditional Country -- which makes sense, as the album was produced in Nashville. The theme is a girl in love, styled with a classic Nashville hook.
But it's Katie's personality and voice that make this a fine piece. Tho she is an expert arranger and skilled composer, it's her personal qualities that make her singing so transformative. Katie is also a terrific fiddler, tho on this cut she seems to be backed up by studio instrumentalists.
This Katie video slid onto Youtube with no fanfare no doubt because of a record industry deal whereby Youtube airs new stuff under the Topic rubric. But there is no avoiding fanfare when it comes to the doings of Katie and her interesting Bluegrass band, the Petersens.
Still, this isn't Bluegrass, nor is it from a Petersens album. It is part of the initial solo flight of a young artist, following on the heels of Katie's younger sister Julianne, who just released a solo album, Beatrice.
Katie's single is available on Apple, Amazon Music, Spotify and other platforms.
The distributor, Distrokid, provided the audio track and image to Youtube, which auto-generated a video.
