BRUSSELS — Protests against coronavirus restrictions flared up across Europe — including clashes in Rotterdam and massive rallies in Vienna — as authorities announced a crackdown on the unvaccinated in an attempt to control reportedly rising cases ahead of the winter holidays.

At least seven persons were injured and more than 50 arrested after protests in Rotterdam turned violent late Friday, with protesters throwing stones and police firing shots, according to Dutch police. Demonstrators decried a proposed law that would ban unvaccinated people from entering businesses even if they provide a negative test. They also protested a partial lockdown that went into effect last week and will last until at least Dec. 4, which forces restaurants and other establishments to close at 8 p.m.

In Vienna, tens of thousands took to the streets today after the country’s decision to mandate vaccines for everyone starting in February and impose new lockdowns beginning Monday.

In Italy, weekly protests against coronavirus restrictions showed no signs of easing, with demonstrations in Rome, including at the ancient Circus Maximus grounds. On social media, users posted videos from protests in other countries including France and Switzerland.

Ferd Grapperhaus, the Netherlands’ minister of security and justice, called for a “vigorous debate” over pandemic measures but said “harassment and violence do not belong” there.

'Orgy of violence'
Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb described the clashes as “an orgy of violence” and said “police felt it necessary to draw their weapons to defend themselves.”

One police officer was hospitalized with a leg injury, and two protesters were struck by bullets. Officials are investigating whether they were hit with police gunfire, according to the Associated Press.

Thousands of people objected to a new lockdown of the unvaccinated that is set for Monday in Austria’s capital. Europe is the world’s only region with authorities reporting coronavirus deaths on the rise, with a 5 percent jump since earlier this month, according to the World Health Organization. In response, authorities are tightening rules for the unvaccinated.

In Berlin, for example, only those who are vaccinated or have recovered from the virus can now go inside bars and restaurants. Greece reimposed some restrictions for unvaccinated people, the AP reported. Belgium mandated that people work from home at least four days a week.

The Troubles Round 2?
Other protests were held in dozens of cities across Europe. In Belfast, several hundred people gathered outside city hall to oppose vaccine passports. In Croatia’s capital, Zagreb, anti-vaccine marchers waved flags and carried banners denouncing vaccine mandates as violations of personal freedom.

The European Union relies on digital covid certificates to allow people to travel between E.U. countries without quarantining and — in many places — enter restaurants and other sites. The certificate shows whether a person is vaccinated, has recently tested negative for the virus or has already recovered from the virus. The European Commission said Friday that the 27-nation bloc has so far issued 660 million certificates.

Internal passports praised
“The issuance of covid certificates is a very important tool to ensure safe, free movement in the European Union and also a very successful tool,” spokesman Christian Wigand told reporters yesterday.

[The use of covid certificates worries libertarians as they could easily be used as a means of strict monitoring and control of individuals deemed "security risks" by powerful interests. This assertion is now routinely branded as a concern of extremists.]

Austria is going back into a national lockdown and plans to become the first country in Europe to make covid-19 vaccinations mandatory for all eligible people as the nation’s coronavirus crisis apparently deepens, Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg announced today.

Schallenberg said his government would look to impose the national vaccine requirement from February 1. Just under 66% of Austria’s total population is fully vaccinated against covid, one of the lower rates in the European Union, where cases are surging. [The word "case" can be used in various senses, lending opportunistic politicians and media a weapon for scare-mongering.]

The national lockdown — the first in Europe this fall — is to start Monday and is projected to last at least 10 days, and could be extended for a further 10 days, Schallenberg told reporters at a news conference in Vienna.

“We don’t want a fifth wave. We don’t want a sixth and seventh wave. We don’t want to have this discussion next summer,” Schallenberg said.

The move comes only days after Austria took the step, unprecedented in Europe, of imposing lockdown measures for all those age 12 and older who are not fully vaccinated against covid.

Stepping up the pace
Under those measures, which came into force last Monday, the unvaccinated were ordered to stay at home except for a few limited reasons, with the rules policed by officers carrying out spot checks on those who were out and about.

Vaccinations are currently recommended for everyone aged 12 and above in Austria. On Monday, a pilot scheme to vaccinate children aged five to 11 got under way in Vienna, the national capital.

Asked by CNN from what age the mandatory vaccination order would apply, the Austrian Chancellery said: “Details are still to come, from what age and when you are considered fully vaccinated.”

Austrian Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein said today that schools and kindergartens would remain open during the upcoming national lockdown.

Keep the kids home?
But Schallenberg said it was possible for parents to take their children out of school if they so wished. “This is always a challenge, for every family,” he said. During the first Austrian lockdown, schools and kindergartens were closed. [Covid presents an extremely low risk to healthy children and other healthy people under age 65.]

Mückstein also urged the wearing of FFP2 masks in all enclosed spaces and said employees could request the option of working from home where possible.

Once the national lockdown is lifted, lockdown measures will remain in place for unvaccinated Austrians, Mückstein said, adding that everything needed to be done to avoid a “fifth wave.”

Schallenberg had harsh words for anti-vaccination activists as he addressed the news conference, saying they had acted irresponsibly.

Tirade against vax critics
“We have too many political forces in this country that are fighting against this [vaccination] vehemently, massively and publicly. That is irresponsible. This is actually an attack on our health care system,” he said.

“And incited by these radical opponents of vaccination, by specious fake news, unfortunately too many of us have not been vaccinated. The consequence is overcrowded intensive care units and enormous human suffering.” [Schallenberg is a lawyer and trained diplomat with no expertise in science, medicine, epidemiology or virology.]

Once it goes into effect in February, Austria’s covid vaccination mandate will be the most stringent measure to control the coronavirus through vaccination yet seen in Europe. [Vaccine research and statistics give highly mixed results on the value of universal vaccination.]

In Italy, all workers are required to have a “green pass” — a health certificate that shows proof of either full vaccination, recent recovery from infection or a negative test within the previous 48 hours — or risk a fine and suspension without pay. People must also show their “green pass” to enter public places like theaters and cinemas.

However, only health care workers are required to be vaccinated.

Italy’s government has credited the “green pass” strategy with boosting vaccination rates.

Neighboring Germany also announced plans Thursday to introduce targeted Covid-19 restrictions on the unvaccinated in order to tackle record levels of infections amid its fourth wave of the pandemic.

Merkel skimps on data
Outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel described the country’s covid situation as ”dramatic” and ”very worrying” at a news conference Thursday, following a meeting with Germany’s 16 federal state leaders on stricter covid measures.

Merkel warned that intensive care unit beds were filling up much too quickly, adding it was ”high time to take action.” [No statistics are cited so as to verify her claim.]

Speaking today at a news conference in Berlin, acting Health Minister Jens Spahn described Germany as being “in a national emergency,” adding “we will not break this wave with vaccinations alone.” [National emergencies are easily used to rationalize dictatorships.]

Asked about the possibility of a lockdown for everyone, Spahn told reporters ”we are in a situation where we cannot rule anything out.”

Lothar Wieler, head of Germany’s disease and control center, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), told reporters the country had never seen such high rates of infection as now in the whole of the pandemic. [Lack of concise definitions, as in "high rate," means officials are doing more hand-waving than serious analyses and communication.]

Defining a 'covid case'
For a twelfth day in a row, Germany has reported record new covid cases. The RKI today reported 52,970 new cases within the past 24 hours. More than 98,000 people have died as a result of coronavirus in Germany, according to RKI data. ["Died as a result of the virus" could mean almost anything. The definition of the term "covid case" can make a world of difference as to the perceived severity of the problem.]

The country’s current daily death rate stands between 200 and 300, Wieler said. However, due to Germany’s record level of infections over the past 12 days, “the death rate is likely to increase over the coming days,” he said. [Are these alarming numbers, or about what you'd expect of any rhinovirus infection in a country of 84 million people?]

France is also experiencing a rise in covid infection rates, but French President Emmanuel Macron has said a lockdown of the unvaccinated is “not necessary” given the country’s covid strategy.

“The countries who are locking down the unvaccinated are those who don’t have the ‘health pass’ in place,” Macron said, in an interview with French newspaper La Voix du Nord published late Thursday.

[An interesting question is whether Democrat Blue State governors will rush to mimic Europe's draconian tactics, as they did hard on the heels of the first wave of European lockdowns.]

Delighted with covid passport
France’s “health pass” confirms the bearer’s vaccination status or proof of a negative covid test and has governed access to a wide variety of establishments in France since its introduction in July.

Ireland, which has one of Europe’s highest vaccination rates, with 89.1% of people over the age of 12 having been immunized, imposed a midnight curfew on bars, restaurants and nightclubs from Thursday as the country faces a fresh wave of covid infections. [Health passes are popular with the governments of countries which do not have as strong a tradition of liberty as does the United States. Biden's promotion of covid passports has a distinctly foreign ring to it.]

If people who torture animals are psychopaths, then what are government officials who use taxpayer dollars to fund animal torture? Many are asking this question in the wake of revelations that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, headed by Dr. Anthony Fauci - high priest of the COVID cult - funded medical “research” involving the torture of puppies. This led “Fire Fauci” to trend on Twitter, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to call for his resignation.

The puppy torture story was followed by disclosures that the federal government funded the testing of experimental AIDS vaccines on orphans. Many of the orphans used as human guinea pigs subsequently died, and nurses who assisted in these experiments reported that many children got sick immediately after receiving the vaccines.

Testing dangerous drugs on orphans and torturing puppies in the name of “science” is certainly shocking, but is it really surprising that government would fund these types of activities? What is the difference between using orphans and puppies for cruel experiments in the name of protecting public health and killing innocent children in drone attacks in the name of stopping terrorism?

Ironically, these revelations come when Congress is on the verge of allowing the federal bureaucracy to destroy what remains of our medical privacy. Both the Senate and House versions of the Labor, Education, and Health and Human Services Appropriations bill remove the prohibition on the development of a “unique patient identifier.”

The prohibition on funding for the unique patient identifier, which I sponsored, has been in place since 1998. The push to allow the government to force every American to obtain a unique patient identifier is being justified as a means to efficiently monitor Americans’ “contact and immunization” status.

When I began fighting the unique patient ID in the 1990s, my opponents denied that medical identifiers would make it impossible to ensure confidentiality of medical records. Now, they are saying we should support medical identifiers because they allow government officials, employers, schools, airlines, and even stores and restaurants to discover what, if any, vaccinations or other medical treatments we have or have not received. The result of the identifier will be a medical caste system, where those who refuse to follow the mandates or advice of the “experts” are denied opportunities to work, receive an education, or even go to church or enjoy a night out on the town.

A unique patient identifier will weaken health care by making individuals reluctant to share personal information—such as drug and alcohol use and past sexual history—with health care providers. It will also discourage sick individuals from seeking medical care for fear their physicians will discover they are unvaccinated, smoke, are overweight, or engage in other unapproved behaviors.

A unique medical ID could also be tied to government records of gun purchases. Someone with “too many” guns could be labeled a potential mental health risk and harassed by law enforcement. This is especially likely if the gun grabbers are successful in their push to enact “red flag” laws in every state.

Fortunately, there is a growing resistance to vaccines and other mandates. This resistance is unlikely to passively accept a federally-issued unique patient identifier. If those of us who know the truth take advantage of the opportunity presented by the resistance to COVID tyranny, we can not only stop the scheme to force every American to obtain a “unique patient identifier” but end all government control of our health care.

After the above was posted, Youtube began feeding this account "conspiracy theory" videos. So the keywords "conspiracy facts" were entered into Youtube search. No auto-suggestions appeared. Further, when the search was initiated, Youtube only had available "conspiracy theories." Evidently, Google/Youtube has a problem with the possibility that some conspiracies can been demonstrated by provable facts.
